Christian Mayne is once again teaching the popular WordPress for Beginners course at Hills Road Sixth Form College this Summer, commencing on Tuesday 2nd May and running for ten weeks. This popular evening course is now in it’s fourth year and has taught hundreds of people how to use WordPress from a standing start.
This course is aimed at those new to WordPress or those looking to setup or start managing a WordPress website for the first time. Christian will take you from the basics of setting up a WordPress site and adding content and images, through to theme installation, site enhancement with plugins, theme modification and user administration.
You will gain a thorough understanding of the components which make up WordPress, how these components are used and managed, and tricks you can use to quickly and simply improve your WordPress website.
No prior web design experience is required, but this is a technical course and you should be comfortable using a PC and Web Browser.
By the end of the course, using practical hands-on tuition, you will have an understanding of the following features and techniques:
- Setting Up WordPress from Scratch
- Creating Pages and Posts
- Managing WordPress Menus
- WordPress Widgets and Sidebars
- Theme Installation, Setup and Modification
- Plugin Installation and Management
- WordPress Administration tasks, Backups and Spam Prevention
- Advanced Plugins: e-commerce, members websites, forums and social networks
The cost of this course is just £125.00 and runs weekly on Tuesday evenings at Hills Road Sixth Form College, Cambridge from 2nd May 2017 – 11th July 2017
Christian Mayne is a fulltime web developer and online consultant who has been working with Internet Technologies for nearly twenty years. He hand coded his first website in 1996 and has since developed hundreds of websites of all sizes, working with clients ranging from local sole traders and small charities to international corporations. In the past, he has provided online consultancy services for blue chip companies such as The BBC, The Financial Times and The Guardian and now runs a Cambridge based web development and hosting company. Christian’s professional experience covers virtually all aspects of web development including coding in multiple languages, social media integration and search engine optimisation.
